Promoting metalcore, hardcore, deathcore and similar music: January 2014

Not so long ago, one of the band members from Svet Kant (Santiago Kodela) sent me an email asking me to help promote their album “Loneliness“. I took the time to listen every song on the album and I was surprised how good they are. These guys deserve more recognition and I hope they’ll get it soon.

Can you tell me more about the band? Who are the members? Where are you from?

The band began as a side project while I (Santiago Kodela) was playing at another trash metal back in Argentina. After having some personal differences with that band and being kicked out, I committed full time to Svet Kant. I composed all the tracks and lyrics for the album.

I didn’t have any musicians at that moment so I went on and hired session musicians in order to be able to record the full LP. After doing so I decided this is a type of music that would be best noticed in Europe so decided to take my chances and moved to Ireland.

After I arrived I started looking for the band members and after some time and effort I came across excellent musicians and most of all people.

How you came up with your band name?

The band name has a funny story. Originally the band was to be called “Anthropophobia” but since that name already belongs to another band I decided (since I’m half Slovenian) to search for words I’m interested in and then translate them to Slovenian, this way the chances of finding an original name not being used before were much bigger.

Then I picked a concept I really like that it is “holy failure”, mainly because I think that from failure one is able to grow, learn and become a master. Therefore, it’s a name that even though it main seem as some negative, it actually focus on the fact of learning from one’s mistakes and use them to grow and become a better being.

How would you describe your album “Loneliness”?

Well, the record is the first one of this band. It has a lot of elements from different bands and a lot of strange things and we love it. We like experimenting, defying the paradigms and looking for things no one has ever done before.

We don’t like “categorizing” us into one genre, but if you have to put a label I would say it is a “progressive experimental metal”.

What are the main themes for most of your songs?

Most of the themes of the songs rely on introspective and existential matters. It also talks about how we keep repeating and making the same mistakes as a race over and over again. It speaks about the duality of finding peace at the cost of being alone.

What are your plans for the future?

Huge plans…promote the record, gig as much as possible, rehearse infinite hours and keep releasing killer albums. It is what we like to do, and we’ll keep on doing it until they day we can’t do it anymore.

Is there anything else you want to add?

I invite everybody to give this band a chance, I invite everybody to try and be interested in new things, to step away from the traditional and open their minds to new stuff.
